Common mistakes that make your FAQ invisible to AI
Most FAQ pages fail for the same handful of reasons. Check yours against this list before you move on to anything else:
Questions written as marketing headlines, not real questions. "Unmatched quality" isn't a question. "What materials do you use?" is.
Answers that are one sentence long. AI platforms need context to pull a useful quote. Two to four sentences per answer is the sweet spot.
The whole page hidden inside an accordion or tabs that only load after a click. Some AI crawlers don't see content that appears this way. Keep the text visible in the page source.
No location or specifics. If you're a local business and your FAQ never mentions the area you serve, AI platforms won't know to suggest you for local queries.
The page exists but isn't linked from your main menu. If it's buried three clicks deep, AI crawlers may skip it entirely.
How long this takes and what to expect
Writing a proper FAQ page is a half-day job for most small business owners. Block out three to four hours, gather your most-asked questions from email and call notes, and write clear answers to each one.
